Born in Winter is Here

The winter days are coming, friends. The daylight hours are already waning. Soon the Frost Giants will roam the countryside and ravage the land. You know what time it is. Time to cozy up in our homes, grab the whiskey, listen to our favorite folk metal, and knit a whole new wardrobe.

It’s that time of year.

Winter is Here

Winter is Here

We’re all gearing up for our winter projects with as much squishy yarn as we can find. I am personally  reaching the middle of an afghan that has taken me approximately 2.5 billion years to knit thus far. As well as a cashmere hat because, Treat Yo’ Self!

Winter’s ever-advancing approach has me listening to some of my seasonal staples lately. I was inspired to dye some new yarns based on the totally metal hellscape that is the darkest season.

So I gathered up a playlist of power and got to work dyeing up yarn that I felt embodied each of the songs. Raise your horns, because this is my winter metal yarn line – Born in Winter!

Born in Winter

Born in Winter

The first yarn in this collection is Born in Winter, the collection’s namesake. I have been listening to hours of my very favorite band while dyeing this collection, and absolutely had to have this colorway. This hand painted yarn is full of dark saturated grays that fade into to ocean and sky blues, with a hint of white ethereal clouds. The yarn is available in all of my luxury yarn bases. Check it out HERE.

Raise Your Horns!

Raise Your Horns!

Don your armor for my next yarn, Raise Your Horns! Paying homage to that genre of metal we all know and love, Viking Metal, this yarn is something fierce! Ice blue, rich leather, and the blood of your enemies adorn this badass colorway. This yarn is available in all of my luxury yarn bases. Check it out HERE.

In the Dutch Mountains

In the Dutch Mountains

The mountains call to me this time of year. I love to get away and spin yarn in the quiet contemplative atmosphere among the evergreens while listening to some great folk metal. In the Dutch Mountains is my tribute to that feeling of quiet reflection. Misty grays are paired with snowy white. Those are contrasted with lush evergreen and majestic mauve to make In the Dutch Mountains one of my favorite yarns this season. This yarn is available in all of my luxury yarn bases. Check it out HERE.

Bifrost

Bifrost

I have been finding a lot of inspiration lately in death and transition, in the music I’ve been listening to, and the coming barren winter months. As a tribute to this, I dyed a yarn to encapsulate the passing of souls to the afterlife. Bifrost is a ghostly blue with hidden rainbow speckles. Both vibrant and understated, this yarn really evokes a feeling of transition to me. This yarn is available in all of my luxury yarn bases. Check it out HERE.
